Gene Quick, 80, of Lebanon, died Monday, September 17, 2007 at Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital.
He was born on June 5, 1927 in Jerome, Idaho to Calvin and Dottie (Burgoyne) Quick. Gene grew up in Idaho and Klamath Falls and later moved to Tacoma, Washington. He joined the Navy in 1943 and served in the South Pacific during WWII. He moved to Lebanon shortly after being discharged in 1947. He married Evelyn Coughran in Lebanon on December 18, 1948.
Gene worked as an auto mechanic for several local car dealerships. He later owned and operated Quick’s Auto Repair until retiring in 1989. He continued working throughout his life. Gene enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family.
He was a member of the Lebanon Evangelical Church, where he was active as a trustee, Sunday School Teacher, and as a member of the church choir. He had also been a member of the Salem Singers during the 1950’s.
Gene is survived by his wife: Evelyn Quick of Lebanon; daughter: Linda Usher and her husband Jim of Lebanon; sons: Ken Quick and his wife Nancy of Spanaway, Washington and Steve Quick of Lebanon; brother: Frank Greeninger of The Dalles; 8 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, 2 sisters, and his parents.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, September 20th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Huston-Jost Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 21st at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Gilliland Cemetery in Sweet Home.
